screw portraits

Somethings you have to see it in person to really appreciate the work, this is one of them…: Sculpture artist Andrew Myers cleverly uses screws to create three-dimensional artwork.  He starts with a base, plywood panel, and then places pages of a phone book on top. He then draws out a face and pre-drills 8,000 to 10,000 holes, by hand. As he drills in the screws, Myers doesn’t rely on any computer software to guide him, he figures it out as he goes along…{source: My modern met } It looks incredibly difficult to create and no wonder – it takes him six months to complete! Although it might be heavy or have an industrial look to it, its fascinating. Would like to see the artwork in person – from all angles and touch it!    { source found via: Fubiz and My modern met }
